Toolroom Records Selector Series: 7 D.Ramirez

Some wicked classics on this one I'll let Toolroom's own press release do the talking (below). Grab the track from beatport by clicking HERE.

The seventh instalment of Toolroom Records' Selector Series comes courtesy of a true hero in the Electronic Music World, D.Ramirez. The legend of House selects his top 15 highlights from Toolroom's extensive catalogue, combining his own classic productions 'Mash Up Ya Ego', '8 Bit Trumpit' and the timeless 'Downpipe' with anthems such as Wolfgang Gartner & Francis Preve 'Yin', F.L.G 'Amplifier' and 'Budgie' from Funkagenda. Alongside these essential tracks, D.Ramirez mixes them up into a full legth DJ mix.

Noisia - Could This Be || OUT NOW on Mau5trap

As you'd expect, stupidly good, super produced drum and bass!

Noisia mix up some half time hip hop styled drums over melodic elements before dropping that lurching filth that is the Noisia DnB groove. Reading the press release up on Beatport Noisia said -

'Feed Me described it as the emo younger brother of Shellshock, I think thats a great characterization. Were really proud of the balance of melodical and harmonic content on one hand and dancefloor-energy on the other hand weve struck in this track. I have a feeling that this track is an indication of where were going to go.' - Noisia

FREE DOWNLOAD || FNY - City Hearts EP

FNY shared this with us recently and it's well worth a post! The first track 'Misfire (Day)' is my favourite with a slow down french house / electro vibe ... definitely a winner! The next two tracks Eighty Four and City Hearts both provided a slightly different sound taking in moonbahton and more club friendly sounds for some more crossover appeal. FNY is offer the full EP for free download which you can download by clicking HERE. Check the tracks out below!

"Two of technos undisputed titans, Umek and Beltek return to Toolroom Records with undoubtedly one of the most eagerly anticipated artist albums of 2011 - Out Of Play"

That's what the press info and promo video says, and my god does it sound GOOD! Brilliant mix of house infused techno and techno infused house mixing up darker tracks with more tech-house orientated styles. This is definitely an album not to miss!

Interview - Richie Hawtin - Platikman

This is just a post to get you all to head over to this link - CLICK HERE - and read the interview with Richie Hawtin about his guise Plastikman. I've copied the first question and answer below. Probably just one for the fanboys but well worth a read.

I suppose if you're a drummer or guitar player, doing your thing is already a visually arresting thing - you're moving your hand, hitting a snare - whereas if your producer, if you're increasing a parameter or introducing a new element to the music, that's not really physical in the same way. People know you've done something, because they can hear it, but there isn't that same physicality. What you're doing reintroduces that.
Exactly. What we're trying to do, in a way, is adding a new language to that. So say, linking claps to strobe lights, people hear it and they see something. They see something on the screen moving in correlation to the sound they're hearing. That's the difference between our shows and other shows. There are a lot of audio visual experiences out there, but there aren't really any tightly integrating what you hear and what you see. That's what a great concert is, like you said, hearing a snare and seeing the snare being hit as you hear it, or with someone play a guitar. Most of the planet and most of the people at the concert are putting together the experience using what they are taking in visually and sonically, and that's what we're trying to play with.

ARTIST FEATURE - Maldito

Stumbled across this guy this morning while listening to some music and generally having a tidy around (not that you wanted to know that). Anyway ... Not a lot to say about Maldito as his soundcloud page is very minimal with not much said about him or links to other sites etc. The track below highlight his style of deep house/techno with massive old school flavor that will sit firmly with the new 'slomo' crowd. As always be great to hear your thoughts on the tracks so leave a comment or hit us up on twitter or facebook

Duck Sauce - Big Bad Wolf

Duck Sauce are back with another hit track following up from the previous success of Barbara Streisand. The video is awesome and truly shows the potential of Keith Schofield (not that I claim to know lots of his work). Check it out below and leave a comment letting us know what you think.

Sepalcure - Pencil Pimp

Stumble across this through some random web browsing. As usual I won't say a massive amount other than this is definitely work checking out. Spaced out uptempo electronica with a fresh look at 'bass music'. Mixing up chicago house, rave and all sorts of sounds.

Ferrer & Hommen - No Difference

Beatportal put this perfectly when the track was released in October so, to re-post and quote them -

"Following on his from his massive Beatport number 1 hits “Hey Hey” and “The Red Room,” Dennis Ferrer teams up with Germany’s Andre Hommen, a familiar face from his work for Objektivity and Plastic City, for the new single “No Difference.”
It’s a rather simple, stripped-back, deep-house groover, but there’s something catchy as hell about it that’s hard to put your finger on. No wonder it’s currently sitting at #4 in the deep house top 10.

Korn featuring Skrillex - Get Up (plus massive collabs on the new album)

Chances are if you're into dubstep you've heard this already but here it is again anyway (it's super heavy so it deserves another mention, not that heavy is always best but you get the point).

This collaboration isn't just a one off though, Korn have enlisted Feed Me, Excision, Datsick, Noisia, Kill The Noise and 12th Planet for there new album. So be sure to watch out for that one!
